CHIGWELL MANOR

Chigwell Manor is a striking example of how bespoke metalwork can become the defining feature of an interior space.

CHIGWELL MANOR

Developed in partnership with Brennan Group and interior designer Jenny at Inside Job Interiors, Chigwell Manor is a striking example of how bespoke metalwork can become the defining feature of an interior space.

Thomas Brenton was commissioned to design, manufacture and install the complete staircase balustrade, carefully tailoring every detail to complement the home’s luxurious finishes and dramatic double-height entrance hall. The sweeping staircase wraps elegantly around a statement chandelier, creating a focal point that draws the eye through the centre of the property.

The design centres around a series of flowing curved hoops formed from 16mm solid steel bar, paired with 12mm spindle infills that provide structure, rhythm and balance. The result is a balustrade that feels both architectural and decorative, combining Art Deco influences with contemporary craftsmanship.

Full Bespoke Design and Installation Service

Working closely with the contractor and interior designer every aspect of the staircase was developed specifically for the project. From concept sketches and technical detailing through to manufacture and installation, the balustrade was carefully engineered to follow the complex geometry of the staircase while maintaining perfectly flowing lines throughout.

The design required extensive template work and precision manufacturing to ensure the sweeping curves remained consistent across every section of the staircase and gallery landing.

Elegant Curves and Flowing Geometry

The defining feature of this staircase is its continuous pattern of curved steel hoops, formed from 16mm solid steel bar and combined with slender 12mm vertical spindle infills.

This arrangement creates a sense of movement and fluidity throughout the balustrade, softening the scale of the staircase while providing a strong architectural framework. The repetition of circles and elongated curves creates a visual rhythm that guides the eye effortlessly from floor to floor.

Paired with a sweeping handcrafted handrail, the design feels sculptural from every viewpoint whilst remaining refined and understated.
